- DJANGO left an incredible
legacy of music in his unique style, now played worldwide by gypsies and gadjos (non
gypsies) alike. Although there is interest in the UK it seems to be in
certain areas.
- Club Django-PZ is creating an
interest in Cornwall. Of course in Penzance (10miles from Lands End) we
are a long way away. To get here
means a long journey, but the beauty of Cornwall is worth travelling for
a holiday, don’t forget your instrument!
- PLEASE e-mail TO CONFIRM, AS
OCCASIONALLY THE DAY MAY HAVE TO BE CHANGED TO FIT IN WITH HOTEL FUNCTIONS – (SEE VENUE).

- We will provide chord sheets
were required. A soloist will lead in with the melody and then nod to
the next person to take over improvising. They in turn will nod to the
next person and so on, the last soloist plays the melody to bring the
tune to an end.
- Try not to play over a soloist
as this causes confusion, always wait for your turn to solo
- It is important to play at a
volume to suit the soloist so he/she is heard and vital to play in time.
Timing ensures the rhythm flows and does not put the soloist off. If you
think you may be out of time stop until you pick up the beat.
- Remember the object is to make
music to the best of our ability and have an enjoyable jam. The sense of
humour of our members ensures we will have a lot of FUN.

- Everyone who has attended has said the same thing – I have always been
interested in the music and listening to Django’s recordings but I don’t
know how to start!
- At present we have musicians who have been playing Celtic/Irish, Rock,
Folk, Ragtime, Blues and Classical music, all thrown together in a
melting pot. Most are novices to Gypsy Jazz but this is more than made
up for by sheer enthusiasm, we’ll get there!
